Frog Question Empty Re: Frog Question

Post by ramiejamie Mon 25 Mar 2024, 4:57 pm

It seems to be over simplistic to say that 3M up and 2M down equals 1M a day and therefore the frog would get out in 30 days.
Therefore when it gets to 27 days it jumps 3M up and gets out surely.
So 27 days.

I'm having second thoughts, maybe the frog needs another day to make certain it jumps out of the pit, so 28 days.
I may be wrong of course Very Happy

1m up every half day? So 60 days, that's if it hasn't starved to death by then.

Not much wrong with your thoughts.
At start of day 2 the frog is 1m up
At start of day 3 it is 2m up
At start of day 27 it is 26 m up
At start of day 28 it is 27m up. It can then escape with its daily jump.
An arithmetic progression.

If you look at the shape of the pit entrance, the frog could have crawled out the last 4 metres or so in one day if it goes up the right hand side
