Re: Wigan Local History and Heritage
Could this being the missing window?
www.wiganparishchurch.org
The Bluecoat School stands at the foot of Wigan Parish Church. It was the first church school in Wigan built in 1773 … A bequest was given so that we were able to have made a beautiful set of new doors in memory of Margaret and Barry Bowker. These doors along with a stained glass window given to us when the chapel of Wigan Infirmary was reorganized were dedicated by the Bishop of Warrington at Evensong in 2006

The window is beautiful, Lolly, but I think it’s called The Good Samaritan so doesn’t quite fit the description.
It’s worth the Society being aware of it though.

What’s that got to do with the prize of goldfish, Ticsmon?
But anyway, Wigan did play its part in their beginnings:
From WP thread - Wigan Fair (Sep 2019):
But anyway, Wigan did play its part in their beginnings:
From WP thread - Wigan Fair (Sep 2019):
For John Silcock's grandfather Edward, the choice to become a showman came about as a way of avoiding a life down the mines.
Edward, along with his four brothers, operated a games stall in Wigan in the early 1900s. They then branched out with a set of swings, a barrel organ, a children's ride and a carousel which they took all over Lancashire. (BBC)

Would liked to have seen this. My sister used to do puppet shows there quite a few years ago.
