Peterkin’s Grocery store junction Market street and Hallgate, looks a fabulous shop to have a mooch around, I wonder does anyone remember it?

Wigan's first horse ambulance , a gift to the Infirmary. Initially it was the resposibility of the patient or his family to find transport to the Infirmary. This ambulance however had to be available to the public at all times for the transmission of casualties

I found this on FB, but I would imagine that there were more buildings than what are shown on this old map in 1712. Anyone enlighten me?

In Victorian times it was quite possible to be sent to work in the mines at 5 years old. Not everything was rosy we’ve got to remember.
